The national flag of Bangladesh was officially adopted on 17 January 1972.

Design and Symbolism

The flag consists of a dark green field background, symbolizing the fertile countryside and Islam, with an off-center orange-red disk representing the sun.

The flag's width-to-length ratio is 3:5, mirroring the Japanese flag while maintaining a distinct Bangladeshi identity.
